Privacy policy
Last updated 18 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, whether it goes overseas, how long we keep it, and how you can access it, correct it or complain.
Who we are, and where we stand under the Privacy Act
In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean PLCSUPPLY AUSTRALIA PTY LTD (ABN 94 700 511 208, ACN 700 511 208), an Australian company based in Queensland.
Most Australian small businesses with an annual turnover of $3 million or less are not bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). On our current turnover we fall within that category. We have chosen to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles anyway, and this policy describes what we actually do. If our turnover passes the threshold, or if we opt in under section 6EA of that Act, the Act will bind us and we will update this page. We do not claim to be regulated under the Privacy Act when we are not.
What we collect
- When you request a quote, a repair, or offer us surplus equipment, or contact us: your name, company name, email address, phone number, country, the part numbers, quantities, conditions and target prices you tell us about, fault descriptions, and anything else you write in a message.
- When you place an order: the above, plus your delivery address, your order details and, from our payment processor, confirmation that payment succeeded and a payment reference. We never receive or store your full card number, expiry date or security code — card details go straight to Stripe.
- When you create an account: your name, email, company, phone, country and a password, which we store only as a cryptographic hash, so we cannot see it.
- When you apply for a job with us: your name, contact details, résumé and anything else you send.
- Automatically when you use our website: your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you visit, referring URLs and the search terms you enter on our site. We store the IP address against quote requests, repair requests, surplus offers, orders and sign-ins, for fraud prevention and security.
- Only if you consent: Google Analytics measurement data about how the site is used.
Sensitive information
We do not seek sensitive information — health, race, religion, political or sexual matters, criminal record or biometrics. Please do not send it to us. If you do, we will delete it unless we need it for the purpose you sent it.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry and prepare a quotation; to accept, process, supply, deliver and invoice your order; to arrange and perform repairs and to make and settle surplus purchases; to handle warranty claims, returns and refunds; to run your account; to provide support and to contact you about an order, a safety issue or a product recall; to detect and prevent fraud, spam and abuse; to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations; and — only with your consent — to understand how our website is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to anyone for their own marketing purposes.
Marketing, and what is not marketing
We will only send you promotional emails if you have asked to receive them, or if you are an existing customer and the message relates to goods or services similar to those we have already supplied you. Every promotional message identifies us and carries a working unsubscribe link, and we action unsubscribes within 5 working days.
Transactional messages are different. Quotations, order confirmations, despatch notices, RMA and repair updates, invoices, warranty correspondence and safety notices are part of supplying you, and they will continue even if you unsubscribe from marketing.
Who we share it with
- Stripe — payment processing. Receives your name, email and billing details; card data is entered directly with Stripe. Processed in the United States and other countries.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, security, bot protection and media hosting. Receives your IP address and request data, processed on a global network including outside Australia.
- Google (Google Analytics 4) — website measurement, and only if you consent. Receives pseudonymous usage data. Processed in the United States and other countries.
- Freight carriers — Australia Post, UPS, FedEx, DHL and freight forwarders. Receive your name, delivery address, phone and email, in Australia and in the destination country.
- Our email, hosting and accounting providers, so we can correspond with you, run the website and issue invoices.
- Anyone else where the law requires it, where it is necessary to investigate suspected fraud or unlawful activity, to establish or defend a legal claim, or a purchaser as part of a sale of our business — in which case we will require them to handle it consistently with this policy.
Sending information overseas
Some of the providers above store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. When we engage a provider we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that they handle personal information to an appropriate standard, and we require it by contract where we can.
For international orders we necessarily disclose your name, address and contact details to carriers and customs authorities in the destination country so the goods can be delivered and cleared.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies — to remember your quote cart, keep you signed in, protect our forms from bots and remember your cookie choice. These are required for the site to work and we do not ask consent for them.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It runs in Google Consent Mode with all storage denied until you accept, so nothing is written to your device before you agree. Advertising, remarketing and personalisation signals are permanently disabled — we run no advertising or profiling tags of any kind. You can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie individually.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Those steps include HTTPS across the site, hashed passwords, role-based access controls for staff, audit logging of administrative actions, bot protection on public forms, and keeping our software patched. We do not store card numbers.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would tell you and, where the law required it, notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
How long we keep it
- Order, invoice and tax records: 7 years, as Australian tax law requires.
- Warranty and repair records: 7 years from the transaction.
- Quote, repair and surplus enquiries that do not become orders: 2 years from our last contact.
- Account records: while your account is open, then 12 months.
- Website server logs and IP records: 12 months.
- Job applications from unsuccessful applicants: 12 months, unless you ask us to keep them longer.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will respond within 30 days and there is no charge. We may need to verify your identity first, and if we refuse access or correction we will tell you why in writing and how to complain.
You can also ask us to delete information we hold about you. We will, unless we are required to keep it for a legal reason such as tax records — and we will tell you if that applies.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email [email protected] with “Privacy complaint” in the subject line. We will acknowledge within 2 business days and aim to resolve within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992. The OAIC can generally only investigate complaints about entities covered by the Privacy Act — see the first section of this policy. You may also have rights under the statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy, which applies regardless of whether an organisation is covered by that Act.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page with its date, and we will say so on our website if we make a significant change.
