Safe use & installation
Last updated 18 August 2026
This information is supplied with every item of electrical equipment we despatch. Please read it before you install, energise or commission anything you have bought from us.
Who may install this equipment
The equipment we supply is industrial componentry intended for installation, commissioning, configuration and maintenance by suitably qualified people. In Australia, electrical installation work must be carried out by a licensed electrical worker.
If you are not qualified to do this work, stop and engage someone who is.
Before you energise anything
- Confirm the unit is the correct part for the application — including the full part number and suffix, the hardware revision or series, and the firmware version.
- Confirm the supply voltage, frequency, phase, and the protective and earthing arrangements match the unit’s rating plate.
- Confirm the environmental rating suits where you are installing it — temperature, humidity, dust, vibration and ingress protection.
- Isolate, lock out and verify de-energisation before working on any equipment, and follow your site’s safe work procedures.
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and all applicable Australian Standards, work health and safety laws and electrical safety laws.
- Test and verify correct operation in your system before putting it into service.
Manufacturer documentation
Because we supply surplus and obsolete equipment, the original manufacturer’s manual is often not available to us and is frequently not included. If you need it, obtain it from the manufacturer before installation — do not proceed on assumption.
Where a unit arrives without its original mounting hardware, terminal covers, keys or shrouds, source the correct parts before energising it. Do not improvise guarding or insulation.
Used and refurbished equipment
Used and refurbished units may have an unknown or partly known service history, cosmetic wear, older firmware and no manufacturer support. We bench-test every unit under power before despatch, but a bench test is not a substitute for testing in your own system.
Inspect the unit on arrival for transit damage before installing it, and tell us within 7 days if anything is wrong.
Safety-related applications
If you intend to use a unit in a safety function, a safety-related control system, a machine guarding or emergency stop circuit, a fire or gas system, medical equipment, aviation, or any application where failure could cause injury or significant environmental or property damage, you must independently verify that the specific unit, its revision and its firmware are suitable and certified for that use, and have that verification done by a competent person.
Used and refurbished equipment is frequently unsuitable for safety functions, because certification depends on documented provenance that surplus equipment usually cannot supply.
We identify parts and supply hardware. We do not provide professional engineering services, functional safety assessment, control system design, certification or compliance sign-off, and nothing we say should be treated as engineering advice.
What will damage the equipment, and void cover
- Incorrect supply voltage, frequency or phase, or connection to an unearthed or improperly protected supply.
- Operation outside rated current, temperature, humidity or environmental protection.
- Liquid ingress, contamination, corrosive atmospheres, insect or vermin ingress.
- Modification, disassembly or repair by anyone other than us or a person we authorise.
- Mechanical shock, dropping, or forcing connectors and mounting rails.
If something goes wrong
Stop using the equipment, isolate it safely, and contact us at [email protected] or on +61 422 735 541. Every unit we sell carries our 1-year warranty, and you also have guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
If a product we supplied has been involved in an incident causing injury or property damage, please tell us immediately and give us as much detail as you can — including the part number, serial number and what happened. We take those reports seriously and we may have reporting obligations of our own.
Disposal
Dispose of end-of-life electrical equipment, batteries and packaging in accordance with the requirements that apply where you are. Do not dispose of batteries or electronic waste in general refuse.
