About this training kit

AllenBradley CompactLogix 5370 L1 PLC + PowerFlex 525 Drive Practical Training Kit

— Master Industrial Automation with a Complete, ReadytoRun Solution

Quickly embark on your industrial automation training journey! This allinone kit integrates the Rockwell Automation CompactLogix 5370 L1 controller, a 7inch PanelView 800 HMI, a PowerFlex 525 drive, analog I/O modules, a highspeed counter, and core I/O components within a sturdy, portable cabinet. Designed for educators, students, and industrial professionals, it provides handson learning experiences in PLC programming, motor control, industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU), and more, bridging theory and practice.

1. Core Features & Benefits

1.1 Fully PreIntegrated Hardware, ReadytoRun

The complete system is professionally assembled, including a CompactLogix 5370 L1 PLC (1769L16ERBB1B), 7inch PanelView 800 HMI (2711RT7T), analog input module (1734IE4C), analog output module (1734OE2C), highspeed counter module (1734VHSC24), PowerFlex 525 drive (25BV2P5N104), threephase induction motor, encoder, industrial switch, and all necessary I/O components (pushbuttons, indicator lamps, potentiometer, etc.). All components are prewired inside a rugged portable cabinet, ready for powerup and immediate use.

1.2 Master Key Industrial Communication Protocols

  • EtherNet/IP – Builtin dual Ethernet ports on the PLC support communication with HMI, drive, and higherlevel control systems, with DLR ring redundancy.
  • Modbus RTU – The drive’s builtin RS485 interface supports serial communication for legacy device integration (PLC itself has no RS485, but this can be achieved via the drive or expansion).
  • Multispeed and analog setpoint control are also supported for flexible applications.

1.3 Practical, RealWorld Training Exercises

Move beyond pure theory with diverse, handson exercises including

  • Logic Control – PLC programming using Studio 5000 (Ladder Diagram, Function Block) for CompactLogix.
  • Analog Signal Processing – Acquire 420mA / 010V signals via 1734IE4C and output analog signals via 1734OE2C to control the drive.
  • Motor Speed Control – via analog signal (010V) and via EtherNet/IP / Modbus RTU communication.
  • Multimode Drive Control – manual (potentiometer), automatic (HMI setpoint), and communicationbased control.
  • HighSpeed Counting & Positioning – Use the 1734VHSC24 highspeed counter (up to 1 MHz) with encoder feedback for speed/position measurement.

1.4 Professional Software Environment

Fully compatible with Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 (V32 or higher), the industrystandard engineering framework for programming, configuration, and simulation. Skills learned are directly transferable to realworld projects.

1.5 Safe & Portable Design

The rugged protective cabinet offers durability and easy storage, suitable for laboratories, classrooms, and mobile training, balancing safety and flexibility.

2. Learning Outcomes & Applications

This kit is designed to eliminate the gap between theory and practice. Upon completion, users will be proficient in:

  • PLC programming and hardware configuration using Studio 5000 (CompactLogix 5370 L1).
  • HMI integration – screen development, data visualization, and alarm handling.
  • Analog signal acquisition and output (010V / 420mA).
  • PowerFlex 525 drive control via analog signals, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus RTU.
  • Threephase asynchronous motor speed regulation (with 220V motor).
  • Highspeed counting and encoderbased speed/position feedback.
  • System integration and troubleshooting across PLC, HMI, and drive.

Ideal For

  • Vocational & technical colleges
  • Corporate training centres
  • Industrial automation engineers
  • Control system R&D teams
